Anxiety – Teaching Series
Forty Million Americans suffer from anxiety, sadly only one-third of sufferers seek help. As a result, millions of people worry about what “might” happen every day, spending countless hours thinking the worst, wasting away the present, while damaging their minds and bodies. The purpose of this introductory four week class is to equip women, using a biblical perspective, to reduce their anxiety by implementing relaxation techniques, cognitive skills, and education in order to take their anxious thoughts captive, thereby freeing them up to live life more fully and be able to enjoy the present, instead of worrying about the future.
The topics we will discuss with Dr. Andrea Ganahl are: What does God say about anxiety? What is anxiety? How does it develop and why do we suffer from it? How does the way we live affect our level of anxiety? What can we do to reduce our anxiety? How do we take our anxious thoughts captive? How can we have lasting change?
Each class will be filled with personal examples, opportunities to practice what we are learning, scriptures to back up the material, as well as research based techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to take an anxiety inventory to determine how much anxiety he/she is experiencing. There will also be time for questions during and at the end of each class.
